I'm Adopted into...

 

God's family.

 

That is pretty exciting to say the least. Check this out:

 

Ephesians 1:5 (The Message)

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

It is a privledge to know that all the messed up things I did in my life and all the trials I have and will overcome fail in response to this true statement - God adopted me way before I knew who I was. When children are adopted they are usually given to a better family - a group of people that can really take care of them.

 

Think about it! We were in the family of Satan. We did what was good and best for our flesh - not caring about the spirit or having regards for who God is. God in his infinite mercy watched us grow into our lives and predestined us to be his children - not because we did anything good but because of his will and purpose. When a couple goes to adopt a child they do not know if the child will become a murderer, a rapist, or whatever... they just see something in that child that makes them want to take him/her home.

 

That is a joy to know that God saw something in us before he laid the foundation of the earth that made him say, "I am going to take him/her out that life and show them my love. It's going to be a growing process but I want to be their Father."

 

What a blessing. Today I admonish you to rejoice... if you are in the family of God... he didn't have to do it but he saw something in you at the beginning of time. Faith will fulfill your purpose. Thank him for the adoption.
